I just discovered "The Court Of The Crimson King" by King Crimson and it's a darn good song.

One of the most iconic album covers of all time. And I think it’s the only album cover the artist ever did!

I have a small piece of family trivia to share with you My mom and dad used to bowl with Johnny and Edgar. It was in Beaumont, TX. They would come and hang in the bowling alley and other bowlers would pay for their games. 🎳

In the title, “Ballet For A Girl In Buchannon (Make Me Smile) / So Much To Say, So Much To Give” the name of the town was misspelled. It was supposed to be Buckhannon (WV)

With Emmylou I always come back to Luxury Liner which I consider her masterpiece.

...(consider the times).

Both of those songs are from 1969. Here's my most-listened to album of 1969: Miles Davis - In a Silent Way. I still remember every note.

Part of the first track, where the angry electric guitar bursts for about 30 seconds, immediately after the drum roll, was used on SNL to introduce Will Farrell’s Satan into a skit.

Speaking of Hawkwind, anyone who loves author Micheal Moorcock’s “Elric” saga and prog music must track down their live set called “Live Chronicles.” It’s a rock opera of the Elric saga. Absolutely amazing! Check out the song “Moonglum” on youtube to get a taste of what the whole album is like!

I hear Rory Gallagher on “Celtic Crush” by Larry Kirwan. I like it.

Nuerotica, Elephant Talk, and Three of a Perfect Pair are probably my favorite songs from that period of King Crimson.

...Alison Steele The Nightbird over on WNEW - THAT was a rock station. “The wonder and beauty of WNEW-FM’s format was that the DJ’s were far more than disc jockeys. While certainly playing music–vinyl and likely albums–they also spoke to us. They commented on current events. They read poetry. They told stories”

Along with Alison there was Scott Muni, Pete Fornatale, Dennis Elsas, Vin Scelsa, Richard Neer, Jonathan Schwartz and, after his late-night TV horror movie stint and before he moved to PLJ, John Zacherle.
WNEW had quite the DJ line-up,

I will, however, see your Crimson King and raise you a “Songs from the Wood”. :) :)

“Drama” is one of my favorite prog albums and among Yes’ best albums. It’s a team effort but you get the sense that it’s Chris Squire’s album. Very heavy and some incredible bass playing. “Could It Really Happen?”, “Run Through the Light”, and “Tempus Fugit” are stellar tunes.

Hey, I’m just a more straighforward kind of prog-rock listener. You start getting into the more esoteric and ethereal messages and mindset, and you leave me by the side of the road, dead. I was a Yes listener from Tormato to Big Generator. Hawkwind’s most notable single was ‘Silver Machine’, sung by Lemmy Kilminster, he of Motorhead infamy. I’m a closet Krautrock fan, although I gotta have a good buzz on and be in the frame of mind to listen to Kraftwerk. I can go from Roy Clark to Bach to Iron Maiden, depending on what suits my mood. It’s like some cosmic god is swapping out floppy discs in my head to reprogram my personal software. LOL

Never heard of Danny Glatton before. Checked out an interview of him on YouTube, then watched one of him preforming ‘Sleepwalk’. I can see why he reminds you of Roy. Quite a few parallels there! Talent and tragedy.

In guitar circles Gatton is considered one of the great masters, but he never got much traction with a wider audience.

Here he is doing the Perry Mason theme:

I wonder if he’s related to Danny Kirwan.

Here’s Danny and Peter Green killing it with Fleetwood Mac circa 1968:

I guess you’re entitled to your opinion. Then again, I have an almost unhealthy fascination with Ritchie Blackmore.

As a player at least - from what I’ve heard, he’s a real dick.
