The dems have tried to make that argument. Farmers will be a tough sell on the trade war, mainly because American farmers for many years have been well aware of the gamesmanship that China and the EU employ to keep U.S. agricultural exports out. Farmers have been ready to get tough for years, even knowing that there will be short term costs. "If they want a war, let it begin here."
