Okay, so it is not enough to avenge his death but it would be enough to get Iran nuked off the face of the earth.
If that’s not a declaration of war, then what is?
The problem is, we have become immune to the rantings of these Middle East madmen (like North Korean utterances) and at some level we dismiss them as venting. What will actually happen will be a few futile barrages of missiles aimed at points vaguely close to either US military bases or Israeli border towns, one or two might by random chance hit something of value, most will just explode in a field or a swamp.
If a developed nation, let’s say Canada, uttered such statements, we could expect war to be declared within hours.
So this whole business has an air of unreality, oh it’s just some Middle Eastern country ranting in bizarre fashion and they don’t intend to follow through. Or perhaps it is more that they wish they could do all that, but they don’t have any way to penetrate the defensive shield around America and know that they can ventilate at will without further consequences.
It would come to an end only if the people in Iran got so tired of it that they removed the mullahs from power, and that is exactly what they should do. They had it much better under the Shah’s beneficial despotism.
