Knowing full well Trump meant business,I get the impression the ayatollah let the missiles fly to make a show for his supporters and prayed that they did not hit any Americans or their structures fearful of the price he would pay. This is the Iranian version of Clinton bombing an aspirin factory to make a show for the folks back home.
I doubt if it makes any difference to President Trump if they actually hit something or not.
The fact is, they did it. They attacked, whether it was successful or not.
I think he’s going to wait enough to make them nervous. The silence and no reaction is going to be unnerving more than a full out immediate response.
It shows a thoughtful, calculating of the situation and a careful planning of what to do next.
Trump is not rash, but VERY calculating and gets the most bang for his buck, so to speak.
Indeed. It was an attack on an Iraqi base, very large site so it’s actually unlikely to hit much of anything, with word of no American casualties. Good reason for Trump to not make a serious retaliation; it was a show for Iranian propaganda best followed up by sanctions further targeting Iranian leadership - not killing conscripts.
If anything, track the equipment and pulverize the home base. Yes we can escalate severely, but not over this.
