Officers DO have a choice. They are part of the checks and balances of government and can refuse to enforce laws they do not agree with, such as a law that says kill all law enforcement officers.
Yes and plenty will choose to enforce the law. However, if they're willing to kill to enforce this law, then they better be ready to die as well. because it won't all go their way. Also the prominent Dems who started this better stay sharp. The governor has round the clock protection by state police jackboots*, but few of the others do.
