Drudge sold the rights to his site (and his fathers site RefDesk) to Google some time ago.
There was an article with the details. It was done via the advertising platform on the site in a manner to limit exposure.
It’s not a mystery. Drudge is no longer drudge.

to Drudge Report, that Drudge could not refuse,
assimulate or we deplatform you.
