Scientists simply cannot restrain their curiosity
Why would they NOT clone it?
Cloning seems the obvious and responsible thing to do.
Mammoths (non-fossilized) have been found in Siberia complete with organs and fur. The one I saw was a baby mammoth in a remarkably preserved state however it was so remote that it took researchers a week to get to it. I think it was revealed when some kind of fissure opened in ice and then was exposed to the elements for a week.
