The Pew Research Center has produced a projected profile of what the American electorate will look like ethnically in the 2020 elections.
The portrait shows a continued trend of America becoming an increasingly nonwhite nation and electorate.
Pew projects that 66.7 percent of eligible voters in 2020 will be white. In the presidential election in 2016, 71 percent of voters were white.
In 2000, 76.4 percent of eligible voters were white, 10 points more than Pew projects for 2020. When President Reagan was elected in 1980, 88 percent of the electorate was white.

Ever been to southern Italy?
________________
No.
I have traveled extensively in the Pacific & Caribbean, where people display many mixtures of ancestry and few get too excited by such details.
My own ancestry ranges from fair-skinned Lithuanian redhaired, green-eyed Jews to dark, almond-eyed Southern Russian Jews. I’ve been taken for Italian.
Brazil is a multi-racial country with Caucasians on top, for the most part. I still would not call Bolsanaro *brown*.
My first mother-in-law (quite swarthy), made a point of insisting (too loudly) that _her_ family was from Naples. Right.
We humans fall along a spectrum and most of us have vestiges of contrasting ethnic/racial groups. All my life, people have asked where I’m *from*. I am consistently assumed to be some sort of hybrid mix or another, depending on where I am when asked. In NZ, it was an innocent question from an indigenous girl:”Are you from Rotarura?” In western Canada, I was assumed to be Metis. I tan well, but I am olive-skinned Caucasian.
Call Bolsonaro the Tropic Trump. Call him the Tanned Trump. But today, *brown* has connotations he doesn’t meet.
Baltimore would be a perfect test bed for this. A third black female mayor failed miserably. A local news anchor was fired for merely asking if that was the problem. It’s been many decades since any Republican was in office. The city is ripe for a strong fiscal conservative who is willing to burn down the current government.
Alas, I can’t think of one such person in the city
Yes, I doubt Bolsonaro would consider himself anything other than ethnically European.
Easily.
Trump is now pulling between 17 and 25% of the black vote in approval ratings. My guess is this will diminish some when actual voting occurs, to about 13-15%-—HOWEVER, that the remaining 12% or so will stay home (as 3% did in key states in 2016). This will destroy the DemoKKKrat party. Not enough suburban women to overcome that.
Just as an example: the black vote that stayed home in FL in 2016 (3%) amounted to about 110,000. That was almost exactly Donald Trump’s margin of victory at 113,000.
Trump is also seeing upwards of 40% approval with Hispanics, a monster number.
Good call. Guava has been the FR turd in the punch bowl for quite some time. Total socialist troll.
Black Conservative Female successful business woman, can’t even win over a white Jew Dem. in Memphis, TN. Just the D is considered.
Unfortunately, too many of the elected pols in NJ are. It’s sickening to me, since I have NJ ancestry going back to the Revolution. 2 of my grandparents are buried there (Burlington).
The last GOP Mayor of Baltimore was Ted McKeldin from 1963-67 (he had also served previously as MD Governor and before that, previous as Balto Mayor in the ‘40s). Unfortunately, McKeldin was NOT a Conservative and at the time he was Mayor, it was still a White majority city.
Awesome map display. Did you research and assemble them?
