We always had Crisco on hand as well as Bisquick. Oh, and a used tin can full of bacon grease. My parents grew up during the depression.

Have you ever had a pimento sandwich? :)

I never saw a pimiento cheese sandwich until we moved to the south. Haven’t tried one yet.

And bacon grease is the best. I keep mine in the fridge, but Mom always had hers in a jar right next to the stove. We lived to tell about it. I heard it’s great on popcorn, but I haven’t tried it.

Bisquick today is 90% salt. Can’t stand it.

LOL - Yeah, we always had that used coffee can full of bacon grease too.

Best fried chicken; milk & egg mixture, flour with salt & pepper then cooked in a cast iron skillet with Crisco.

Tennessee’s mom friend also added garlic. It was delicious.
