Their desires are just accessories to signal a lifestyle, like a Rolex or a Ferrari. Mitt has to become president because that is the only accessory he lacks. The only goal he hasn’t finally gotten the “recognition from teacher” he craves. Why would he want to change things when the way things are has been very good to him?
