Trump: ‘I would have a hard time’ letting Barron play football
The Politico ^ | February 3, 2019 | David Beavers

President Donald Trump, in an interview aired on Super Bowl Sunday, said he “would have a hard time” letting his youngest son Barron play football, but would ultimately let him decide.

Responding to host Margaret Brennan on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” Trump said of 12-year-old Barron playing football: “If he wanted to? Yes. Would I steer him that way? No, I wouldn't.”

“I just don't like the reports that I see coming out having to do with football,” Trump said. “I mean, it's a dangerous sport, and I think it's really tough.”

The National Football League has come under some fire in recent years for reports of long-term brain damage in current and former players due to repeated blows to the head, known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE.

The NFL has attempted to ameliorate the health issue through rule changes and improvements in equipment, which Trump acknowledged the limitations of.

“The helmets have gotten far better, but it hasn't solved the problem,” Trump said, adding later he’s “heard NFL players saying they wouldn't let their sons play football. So. It's not totally unique, but I — I would have a hard time with it."

The New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams play for the NFL title tonight in Atlanta.

Ha ha! Didn’t even run a comb through her hair. Looks as if she was up all night crying, drinking and banging her head against a wall.

Yep, they have to choose it. Our firstborn has asthma and allergies; as a young kid he was small for his age and not particularly tough. When he was in middle school his dad (football and wrestling coach at the time) began working with him in the weight room using the BFS program.

He completely bought into it and became a machine. He’s had success through hard work, not due to natural athleticism or size. Sometimes when I would see him sack the QB or throw a guy and pin him, I would remember the early years and be amazed at the transformation.

That’s rugby No pads No stoppage except score or out of bounds Football has the forward pass and 10000 rules about and now 2000 camera angles to do instant replay We all know Brady and Goff are there as would easily brees or mahomes who are just as good passers It’s the forward pass that makes football football 🏈

Barron is built like Peter Crouch and could have a nice pro soccer career.

Barron's last name is Trump. He can have a 'nice career' doing anything he chooses to do.

Owning a bank, Cuba, the Yankees, "grab'm by the pussy" a Netflix original series that will run for 22 seasons, or 36% of the EU.

The kid has good genes, I figure he will take Cuba and rebuild the casinos.

I was way out of line earlier in my response telling you to ask a man about the height and weight of high school football players( or anything else for that matter). I’m very sorry.

We have a professional rugby league in the states. 2nd season started. I support the Glendale Raptors. In rugby you cannot hit from behind, you have to roll off the ball as soon as you hit the ground and the tackler has to roll off you, No leaving the ground to tackle, no lifting player off the ground, no hitting above the shoulders.

Personally,I know nothing about Rugby but a friend’s husband played in Ireland and quit playing when he started a family because of the chance of injury-——he did continue coaching a club team here in the USA.

Barron is a wonderful lad I’m sure, but he doesn’t strike me as football material. My daughter was sad that #1 son seemed to lack athletic ability, but #2 is a real brawler, so I said: look here’s your linebacker!

Even at 40 years of age, Darrell Green was just about the fastest player in the NFL. Earlier in his career, he was the unquestioned fastest player in the NFL.

If Barron has a body type suited for volleyball, but his body will be changing a great deal in the next 4-7 years.

My brother lived to be 76, but his cause of death is listed as the HS football injury which affected his whole life.

It was a pure accident with no malevolent intent involved - as the game film clearly showed. Collision between two people neither one of whom was trying to do what happened. One lost his balance, the other wasn’t even looking in that direction.

Exceptional case, yes - but there it is.

Both of my kids were such awesome athletes that they both ended up in the marching band.

Every kid has their own talents and skills.

Make the most of what they have.

“He, however, does have difficulty with ones that are over-inflated.”

He seemed to do ok this year, winning another Superbowl and stuff like that!
