8 eruptions reached over 50k feet high? Just recently?
(some combination of dust / ash obviously)
That’s around 10 miles up. Anyone else heard of this?

How high the smoke and ash ascend is kind of a goofy metric / criterion to assign severity. The reason I say that is because an eruption can blow high - like the Alaskan volcanoes frequently do - and then nothing else can happen for hundreds of years. Better to do an analysis based about 50,000 feet lower (or more).

Here is a link to the
volcanic ash advisor site Dutchsinse uses.
I am no expert on this whatsoever but maybe someone here at FR can make some sense of it.
Maybe nothing but it could be something Trump is going to bring up in tonight's address ;)

Luckily the eruptions were in China, just one volcano, so, each eruption stopped, floated around a bit, then got sucked back down into the caldera. See next message.
