There is a lot to say that plenty of people have gotten themselves “right” in the military.
But drafting people for a peacetime army is not a good plan financially or for the military.
And today, the last thing the military needs is a bunch of whining kids who don’t want to be there.
Finally, if you think the VA sucks now...add a few million draftees to the mix.

Those of us around in 1973, even if not adults at the time, will remember that social cohesion was very low in the preceding years to the end of the draft.
And really, we should be less involved in stoking the war machine, with less need for soldiers than in the last century.
