CBS Florida Poll: Gillum’s Lead Down To A Single Point, Scott Pulls Into Tie With Nelson For Senate

Lotta good news (and a little bad) for the GOP in this multi-state survey from CBS and YouGov but none better than the Florida gubernatorial numbers. Probably no single outcome next month will have more consequences for the 2020 election than who ends up in charge of Florida. A poll taken a few days ago had Ron DeSantis ahead for the first time in two months, which seemed suspicious. Was that really the start of a trend towards Republicans or was it just an outlier? Gillum had led in every one of the 18 other polls taken since September 1.

But maybe it is the start of a trend. The last four surveys of Florida have gone like this: DeSantis +3, Gillum +1, Gillum +5, and now Gillum +1 from CBS/YouGov. There’s every reason to believe the race is tightening in the home stretch even if DeSantis hasn’t yet grabbed the lead.

Electing Gillum would be like making Al Sharpton “Governor” of Washington, DC.

Our turnout in Florida is going to give Scott and DeSantis the win.

Do any of the polls have a 43% Republican - 40% Democrat internal breakdown? Because nearly half the vote is in and that is the current breakdown.

Dems have to make a substantial dent with early voting because they just don’t come out on election day.

They’re not coming out.

Again, the Dems thought they could run the mid-terms like a special election, but there’s simply too many bases to cover and no one who isn’t a hardcore Dem is suddenly going to decide to vote like one.

Short of some sort of issue with voting in the panhandle because of the hurricane, the GOP will win both of these races confortably

Do any of the Indiana polls have a 60-40 Republican to democrat internal breakdown as the current vote indicates?

This is a joke and we’ve got to hold these pollsters to account now and after this election.

It’s probably some silly D+4 turnout model... when we are R+7 in early ballots and absentees.

I do not think the case has been made enough that he is a commie. They are hitting him nicely on his anti cop statements and socialist views. Also corruption. They need to a closing case of what that would do to our Florida economy. ‘Why do a 180 with the results of conservative policies?’

I’ve never thought DeSantis would lose. I do think some people may be reluctant to say they support him though, considering how the “press” distorted his “monkey around” comment.

“Our turnout in Florida is going to give Scott and DeSantis the win.”

Absolutely. And current count already shows it. Tomorrow’s numbers should make the dems keel over.

Of course they don’t. Thanks for the reminder.

LS thinks they are still using the internal breakdown from 2012, lol!
