Everything liberals accuse the right of doing has been done by them: collusion with Russians, mob behavior, lack of civility, being dictatorial, lying, etc. The list is endless. This is can also happen on a personal level with liberal friends. Here is my story.
I went to my liberal friend for a couple of drinks and to chat on a Friday night. Another liberal friend of his dropped in. Conversation naturally turned to Trump. Over the course of discussing Trump voices were getting louder and I was finding it hard to speak with two voices shouting me down. Then my friend stood up and I started to stand up when he came toward me, jumped on top of me with his hands around my throat and screaming "YOU ARE OUT OF CONTROL!!!" I finally wrestled him off and circled around the room shouting at him, "You're a F****** moron!" And then he screamed "Get out you TRUMPSTER!!!" and starts to cry a bit (maybe realizing he lost a friend). I shrugged and left.
But what struck me was that he had to come across the room to shut me down from saying anything because in his mind "I was out of control." The fact was that he lost control of the argument and then felt he lost control of the situation to the point where he had to physically act. This is projection on a person level.
I'm curious if anybody has a similar story they would like to share.
Yes! Emotion is what dominates! And emotion can kill you too so you have to control it.
What is a newt? Newt as in Newt Gingrich? He’s my hero!
Ah! You’re right that commands respect.
Honestly I tried, but I can't decipher this.
I witnessed this type of projection back in college and it was quite a, I HATE this smarmy phrase, teachable moment for me. The slightest disagreement with them, and you are racist, sexist etc. Yet the worst bigots I had the DISpleasure of knowing are liberals. Instead of facing up to their own prejudices they need to project them on others. Guilt? Some holier than thou superiority complex? A need to ingratiate themselves with those they perceive to be oppressed in order to soothe their fragile egos? I’ve seen White student activists and other useful idiots pretending to be down for the struggle. But on a typical Saturday night of partying when the brewskys flowed and the doobies passed around that’s when those hypocrites let their, no pun intended TRUE COLORS show. In vino veritas. The guilty dog barks the loudest. Those who point their fingers are the ones with the filthy hands.
I play bluegrass and regularly perform at a bistro in our smallish town. The Bistro is a gathering spot for townies of all stripe - left and right.
The lefties always want to talk politics and be confrontational. I don’t want to wreck my opportunity so I usually just fend them off with alternate topics. The tension has steadily built with lefties unable to control themselves. The ownership has had to intervene on occasion to keep it from getting physical.
So over the past three weeks I’ve noticed a curious lack of lefties coming in. I don’t know if they are boycotting (which would be stupid because the place is basically run by leftists) or if they finally realize that they cannot control themselves.
Leftists are not known for being especially introspective so my guess is the former ;’}
Right on! For every finger pointing there are three point back at the pointer. What I can’t stand is the line “white men are evil” spoken by white men. I just can’t see how they can hate themselves so much to utter such nonsense. It’s either that or they don’t believe it and they’re saying it to gain some advantage. Whatever way, it’s despicable.
Introspection is out with them... and yet they are suppose to be so sensitive and intuitive. They really don’t know themselves for all their affinity to art and whatnot. It’s like some they have some blinders on their soul. God knows!

What you say is what you are.
That’s great! Pithy and to the point (and poetic).
it’s a line from a Monty Python movie, a joke...
Is that a spoof or are they really throwing plastic chairs?
I am so saving your excellent post.
Thank you for putting it so clearly.
Thanks Chode. I grew up with Monty Python, but didn’t know.
I guess that’s what they get for having LIB “friends”. LOL

My wife and I are close friends with an elderly couple, I would describe as old-fashioned “liberals”, but they are not leftists. It is possible to debate politics with them on an intellectual plane and keep off the lawn of emotions. Their information comes almost exclusively from the WaPo, NYT, and CNN; i.e., the Democrat Party. The man actually tempers his views when presented with new information or ways of looking at things. His wife is civil, but I can tell she dismisses anything she doesn’t want to hear, and projects the idea that I am trying to trick her with false data and logic. What we both get out of it, is a perspective on what the other side thinks.
Sounds like your friend is a leftist, not really a liberal. However disguised, the leftist program is to impose economics and social change by force, because their arguments are losers. After alcohol lowered his inhibitions, your pal put that into action personally.
