My first thought after reading the first two paragraphs and arriving at the old ‘microwave causes cancer’ ploy is that the RBOCS (Comcast(Xfinity), Verison, etc.) feel threatened like a spurned spinster at a Kavanaugh hearing.

If I am seeing this correct in a historical context, 5G represents a decentralization of the last mile allowing all sorts of homegrown ISPs to get in the game. RBOCs can’t have that.

BINGO!

While I’m not itch’n For a 5G phone because of range limitations, I do see it as a viable alternative for home internet. I use Comcast right now, a lower tier (internet only: TV is OTA Tivo and streaming), and uverse is over twisted pair which I don’t find all that attractive. Ma Bell is rolling out 5G in Indy, and I would like to see what they can offer vs. Comcast.
