This is all a political exercise. They were able to use the same type of tactic on Judge Moore in Alabama with success. This one has become considerably more outlandish; if not for extreme media bias... it would definitely backfire on them in the current midterms. This amount of Chicken Little BS still might. They are out of control and becoming a parody of their own ridiculous selves. This latest New Yorker nonsense should be immediately disavowed by the Dims; it probably will not be and it makes them all look ridiculous.
