Not true.
Mattis has changed many things, mostly for the better.
His position is that every soldier should be given the opportunity to achieve their aspirations in the military because Mattis values motivation and and a burning desire to excel as a core conviction.
Mattis also has been clear that physical and mental skills needed to perform a position at maximum combat effectiveness are a non negotiable requirement.
Mattis’s directives are being sabotaged by Obama era political officers in positions of authority.
Mattis seems to have taken the best approach but it will take time to filter down
The military doesn't accept people with uncorrectable poor eyesight, or people with respiratory deficiencies. This isn't some Invictus, earn your dream poster on the wall situation, this is a taxpayer funded organization designed to kill our enemies in the most violent manner possible. That will always be most efficiently achieved with men. Even in instances of women with remarkable gifts, the degree and amount of training required to get them to a level that men can be trained with much less time and effort makes the inclusion of women in combat arms foolish, just as it would be foolish to include obese people...
The fish rots from the head. Mattis is in charge.
It absolutely is true. Mattis complained long and loud about women in combat when he was in a position not to influence those decisions. Now that he runs the DoD, he is stone cold silent. He apparently never expected to be in charge and now he can’t find the nerve to follow through.
BTW, why did he try to countermand Trump’s order to get rid of the cross dressers?
