I can cite a member on Free Republic who actually DID detect a very red-tinged message in Return of the Jedi, and said user made it VERY clear he detected it BEFORE Lucas officially confirmed it.
Except the USSR was even WORSE than the Nazis as it turns out (and the only reason we even aided them was because the guys in FDR’s cabinet were composed of Communist sympathizers). That’s not even CLOSE to the same thing as the situation with Saw Gerrera, especially when Leia STILL made it clear they were allies, even unofficially, in the Bloodlines book, and even Jyn Erso, in her speech, fondly quoted him.
And I say yet again, you STILL haven’t addressed the bit about the protagonists, the Ghost Crew, basically slaughtering that mining guild for their fuel, or bombing that parade, all in the first season, which was BEFORE the Partisans and Saw Gerrera were even a factor in the story.
Eh, not really, it was worse than the Clone Wars from what little I could gather, and was about AS bad as Episode 7 and 8.
And quite frankly, I fail to see how it didn’t get political when the very first episode had the heroes slaughtering a civilian mining guild and treating that as a good thing.
Good for them. The plural of anecdote isn’t fact. Meanwhile the facts are the masses did NOT notice. And frankly when you know it’s such an undercooked parallel it doesn’t really work.
But they hadn’t invaded our allies, so they were convenient. Actually it’s very close to the situation in Saw. Nobody in the Rebellion liked the guy, they didn’t trust him, they even kicked him out a couple of times. But he was necessary. So they worked with him.
What makes you think the masses didn’t notice? Have you forgotten that most of the masses didn’t even notice that our school systems were pushing socialist crap on the student body until it was too late to reverse course?
Yeah, actually, they DID invade our allies. Or have you forgotten about how Stalin took over large parts of Eastern Europe, not to mention held American POWs DESPITE technically being our ally.
And quite frankly, them kicking Saw out comes across as more of a CYA than actually not liking the guy, especially considering that Bail Organa had no problem using a B-wing Death Star on some Imperial ships, the Ghost crew slaughtered a civilian mining guild for their fuel, and they blew up a parade. If they actually believed he was too nuts, they should have evicted Bail Organa for the B-Wing mess, and the Ghost crew for civilian mining guild. That’s how I would have done it.
Because I bother to pay attention, and I’m deeply entrenched in nerd culture. Nobody freaking talked about it until the interview, and even AFTER the interview they still don’t. Oh, I bother to pay attention as well, and I’ve already seen how so many people are believing a whole lot of what’s being said about, say, the Vietnam War and how Americans were the guilty factor. Heck, there are a lot of Star Wars fans that also adhere to that exact belief as well, many of which DO know about that little background. We’ve even got kids who got out of college, initially being conservative and religious, but brainwashed into being atheists, all of which was entirely by design. And even Ian McDiarmid in that interview with the Guardian made it VERY clear that Lucas has created the films and deliberately marketed it to 8 year olds precisely BECAUSE they’re an impressionable lot and can be easily indoctrinated into adhering to Lucas’ far-left views. Believe me, this crap Lucas is doing is NO different from what others have done in education or in entertainment/media, like Walter Cronkite basically advocating we get out of Vietnam by lying about the Tet Offensive. Whiney? I’m actually paying far closer attention than YOU are to what’s going on. In fact, since I myself came very close to being brainwashed by leftist views, I actually know far more about that aspect than you do. Don’t think for ONE second that believing that they’re like the American Minutemen means they aren’t adhering to leftist beliefs. We’ve got a lot of kids and adults right now who have been taught that the French Revolution is just like the American Revolution, and we’ve even got kids who think that the Vietcong were just like the American Minutemen (in fact, Star Wars and History, an official work, actually made that explicit ccomparison), and in fact, a major film studio is working on a film promoting the French Revolution being exactly that right now. That’s actually an even MORE insidious way of brainwashing kids into leftist ideology than just telling them upfront. NCIS: Los Angeles actually dealt with this aspect when covering the Gun Barrel Party, a blatant expy of the Weather Underground. One of the characters who got arrested actually had the gall to claim that his terrorist group’s actions were no different from what the Founding Fathers did, and G. Callen actually pointed out that the Founding Fathers never tried to bomb civilian targets. Heck, just look at 2012 and how after Obama managed to somehow get reelected despite the genuinely horrible job he’s done for the country, and the youth actually took to the streets to celebrate, actually cheering for socialism and Karl Marx. Just look it up on YouTube and you’ll see.
And I don’t feel the need to get in a twist about that, either. In fact, I’d rather NOT have to see that, but guess what, it’s there, it’s happening, so I MUST expose it, no matter the cost.
