Chuck Todd: A "Functional Washington" Would Be ... Draw Up Articles of Impeachment (tr)

Chuck Todd said Wednesday morning if a "functional Washington" existed that Congress would be holding investigations into the Trump presidency and looking for ways to draw up articles of impeachment. He also advised outgoing House Speaking Paul Ryan to leave behind a group of Republicans to "start an investigation" in the House Judiciary Committee to probe Trump.

"You now have a president of the United States accused of committing a federal crime," Todd said on Wednesday's Today Show. "The way a functional Washington would work is that Congress, there is a process here. The sitting president is accused of a crime. The Judiciary Committee in the House of Representatives would begin to look to see if there's enough evidence to start investigating and drawing up articles of impeachment, but this is not a functional Congress. This is a Congress controlled by Republicans."

(snip) … Todd implored the retiring House Speaker Paul Ryan to create a Trump investigation before he leaves office.

"I do think Paul Ryan needs to think long and hard about the future of the Republican Party. This is your last chance off this train," Todd said. … "I think he could actually do the party a favor and just start the procedure in the House Judiciary Committee to give some home, to give some place for Republicans getting nervous to say, 'Hey, you know what, let's start an investigation and we'll go from there."

Opposition Party, or as Ed Koch called the media: democrat operatives with press passes.

The people are aware.

There is no crime. Manafort is dirty, and has problems of his own unrelated to Trump. Cohen is also dirty, but the paying of money for a non-disclosure agreement is not criminal since campaign funds were not used for it.

One of the rules of campaign money is you cannot use campaign money for something that would have been in place had there been no campaign, as the threat of having his character publicly besmirched clearly would have been to Donald Trump if he had run for office or not.

The thing is, everyone except the most brainless of ideologically driven Leftists (those are a lot) understands, even most in the media who continue as if they didn’t, that there is no crime. There will be no investigation of that. Because they know it won’t stick.

But that won’t stop CNN, MSNBC, NYT, et al from talking up impeachment over it, for the simple reason that they want to rile up the left and keep them riled up until the elections to get maximum turnout.

They also want to demoralize conservative voters so they won’t vote, and both of these dynamics play into the hands of the Left.

They are desperate to swing the house so they can get an impeachment going, even if it is totally baseless, so they blather on about the supposed crimes.

Fortunately for our country, Trump doesn’t look like he wants to play by their rules...he went to a big rally yesterday, and the media collectively nearly shat themselves...

“But...but...he has committed CRIMES, HOW can he go to a RALLY? It is so unpresidential...”

I’ve taught college journalism for more than 30 years. Chuck Todd is not a fair-minded journalist, which is the first thing a journalist should be.

Most so-journalists today are graduates of “The Goebbels
school of Journalism”

“Regurgitated Manure” is their motto.

It would seem to make more sense to find a way to impeach Chuck Todd & others like him. I know it probably can’t be done, but it makes more sense than going after Pres. Trump, because I can guess who Todd & other such folks would suggest replacing him with. If Todd got his way, then things would probably really go to hell in a handbasket, politically speaking.

Chuck Todd started out as a legitimate, serious correspondent. I wish he had remained that way instead of becoming a clown.
