I think Penn Gillette is noble here. People say things when they believe they are amongst friends. WE ALL DO. And remember, this was before he had political aspiration. It is amoral to take something someone said years ago in a certain context and relay it in the context of today. I commend him.

If he was noble, he would kept quiet. By insinuating, yet not detailing, it is all left to the imagination. What good does that do? Probably more harm than good.

Could be. I remember Tommy Smothers tearing into him for going on Beck’s show - back before Glenn went off the rails.

Gillette was hurt that one of his entertainment heroes (Smothers) couldn’t understand two people with different opinions actually talking with each other. He was truly shocked that Smothers was such a total ass about it.
