Kathleen Kennedy is just the producer. The director is Ron Howard. The creative control of a film is in the hands of the director.

So this article and the comments are ignoring something that is very important. Regardless of the merits or downfalls of Kennedy as the producer, the primary blame or credit for the quality of this film lies at the feet of Ron Howard.

I have not seen it and can not contribute much more than that.

Not in this case. Kennedy fired the original directors because they refused to match her vision. Howard was just brought in to salvage the thing.

Exactly! Ron Howard is an ultra-leftist. ...I guess he and his conservative brother don’t often discuss politics.

Ron Howard was the replacement director. The original directors were Phil Lord and Christopher Miller who did The Lego Movie.
