I am not sure if “spy” is correct given the story that is unfolding. Agent provocateur might be more appropriate and likely one who did not know or understand the larger plot. It is likely there were numerous willing accomplices who were directed to plant hooks all over the place. These hooks were then forwarded to FBI through CIA, State, and likely intel agencies of our allies to make it appear that there was a flood of indications that Trump was colluding with Russia in the campaign. Every week this is becoming more obvious and as typically observed in a “disinformation campaign” it is doubtful that any of the role players knew the big picture being orchestrated by Brennan/Clapper.

Comey illustrated this when he said “he asked me to brief the President on the dossier and that the media had it.” Comey did this and sounded like he was “taking orders”, but only told the President a small part of it. Comey testified he “accomplished his mission and only briefed the President on a small part of it because that fulfilled his goal.” This “briefing” was promptly leaked, which allowed CNN to run with their leaked story and Buzzfeed to publish the leaked dossier undermining the President. While this is likely the most spectacular example (next to Comey engineering the appointment of Mueller), this Machiavellian type behavior likely occurred dozens of times feeding the confirmation back to the willing group on the 7th floor of the FBI that they were “hot on the trail.”

It is likely that many of those who pay the biggest price for this were nothing more than willing dupes who bought a story they wanted to believe in the first place and had that narrative reinforced by “many different sources” never realizing it was all an engineered campaign of lies. I suspect more folks like this are out there and all of these innocuous (but engineered) contacts were being fed by different sources to the 7th floor of the FBI. If all you knew was that information was coming in from a variety of trusted people and you did not fully question the veracity of the information, it would have appeared much stronger than it does to us right now - strong enough to apply for a FISA warrant. I suspect the FISA warrant is chock full of little reports like these.......

It is beginning to make sense and those who participated in this that we know about and rightly vilify are beginning to look like useful and willing dupes in a much bigger plot.

Yes, operative(s) given specific assignments on what to instigate/entice/arrange and with whom. All part of a bigger plan in which each mission/assignment is merely a cog.

You’re probably correct that they are willing dupes because generally people never question very deeply or even think that the deep state would ever be exposed. It’s influence peddling on a different scale and people are happy to play a part because they feel they are influential.
