That's what two major railroad companies are offering in an effort to recruit more workers in what The Wall Street Journal called "a historically tight labor market."
The Journal said BNSF Railway, based in Fort Worth, Texas, and Union Pacific Corp. in Omaha, Nebraska, are filling jobs as the demand rises to ship more products across the western side of the country....

The bonus is great but the location may be BFE Nevada and starting out as a hostler (yard crew) or track maintenance can be dangerous work.

Problem with “follow your dream/passion” is most people don’t actually have one. They make something up when advocated to. For those that truly do, it’s something they can’t _not_ do - so go for it.

I got almost that in the 1990's to work in software development. Unlike most Freepers I am still in the workforce. The labor shortage is highly exaggerated.
