Who's the Fake?
PJ Media (Belmont Club) ^ | 4-22-2018 | Richard Fernandez

The fight for the control of Washington, after a ton of preliminaries and battlespace preparation, is now underway in earnest. As Robert Mueller seeks a path toward linking Donald Trump to collusion with the Russian government, the president is trying to frame the investigation as a conspiracy hatched by the former administration's intelligence bosses and secret policemen. It's a clash between the irresistible force and the immovable object.

The start of this war can be dated to January 5, 2017 according to Andrew McCarthy's research. At this meeting the outgoing president made key decisions on how to investigate his successor without letting him know. "During the meeting, Rice’s memo said, then-President Barack Obama suggested intelligence officials be cautious about sharing information about the Russia investigation with the Trump transition team, 'particularly' incoming national security adviser Michael Flynn. By that time, multiple senior members of the campaign had been in contact with high-ranking Russians, including Flynn, incoming Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and senior adviser Jared Kushner." McCarthy describes the fatal moment when, rightly or wrongly, Obama moved against Trump.

Interesting analysis but the situation is modified by the fact that one side is using the “deadlock” to further its own ends. Trump was going to face fanatical institutional opposition from within the permanent government just as Reagan and Bush did. The Obama-Clinton conspiracy merely focused it and gave Trump a visible handle to be able to cripple it more certainly. The Head of the snake, instead of being obscured in the cols of the body has reared up and bared its fangs, the better to identify the leadership and cut it down.

From Nov 2016 to Jan 2017, Obama and Co had almost two months time in between. And they still won’t accept the decision made by the American people. Talk about ego and hubris.

Let's be honest, there is no 'our side' in DC, they are all Uniparty.

Even those who were elected to 'drain the swamp' and 'end the deadlock', they are not effective (so far), and they face more objections from the Ryan/McConnell wing than the real Dem wing.

Susan Rice wrote that Hussein said to investigate Trump “by the book”. As I’ve said before, the book he was referring to is “Rules for Radicals”.

In hindsight, the appropriate course of action for the incoming Trump administration would have been to fire each and every political appointee (the Plum Book). Then, fill about half the positions. The majority do not require Senate confirmation.

Actually it probably started in March 2016 with Brennan's secret trip to Moscow where he met with the Russian security service (FSB). (Indeed, even before that they were probably doing queries on the NSA database to see what was in there on Trump.)

I'm guessing he asked the Russian spy chiefs what dirt they had on Trump. Which was probably very little. I would bet he also asked them if they had extracted Hillary's emails from her homebrew server and what they wanted from Obama in exchange for not releasing them.

I would bet that after Brennan got back the ringleaders of this op decided to manufacture dirt as if the Russians did have something, and use it as a pretext for more expanded spying on Trump and to spread lies in the media.

The Special Counsel was a continuation of the same op, the purpose of which was to shield what they had done from being discovered and try to find something, anything, with which to remove Trump before he could actually hold them accountable for the corruption.

To clarify, Wretchard is an opinion writer (not a journalist) and lives in Australia. But his analyses of current events plus the regular Belmont Clubbers are always top notch.

(And the only reason I visit PJ Media, the website design is atrocious.)
