"An AR-15 won’t do much good against a tyrannical government that has nukes."

That statement sparks a memory of a novel I read as a lad. In Robert Heinlein's 1959 novel, Starship Troopers, a cadet in training complains to his instructor about having to learn the proper way to throw a knife, a waste of time in a world where a nuke can be launched at the push of a button.

The instructor tells him to go ahead; reach out and push the button. As the cadet does so, the instructor throws the knife - pinning the cadets hand to the wall before he can reach the button. 'nuff said.
