Facebook vice president of advertising Rob Goldman slammed the media, on Twitter, for their misleading coverage of Russias meddling in American politics.
Very excited to see the Mueller indictment today. We shared Russian ads with Congress, Mueller and the American people to help the public understand how the Russians abused our system. Still, there are keys facts about the Russian actions that are still not well understood
Most of the coverage of Russian meddling involves their attempt to effect the outcome of the 2016 US election. I have seen all of the Russian ads and I can say very definitively that swaying the election was *NOT* the main goal
The majority of the Russian ad spend happened AFTER the election. We shared that fact, but very few outlets have covered it because it doesnt align with the main media narrative of Trump and the election
THAT is WEIRD!
I’m certain all the Sunday talk shows would be delighted to have him on if he’d just contact them /s
Shocked the Facebook guy blowing the lie with facts.
btt
Influencing the election was not their main objective. They probably did not think they had enough firepower to sway a significant number of voters. They wanted to spread discord and discontent. They got a lot of bang for the ruble, aided and abetted by MSNBC, CNN, and the lamestream media in general.
He better go in hiding now.
You got that right! He's getting hammered wherever he pops up. I bet he gets fired or quits within a month.
They were Trolls! Doing what trolls do! Sewing discontent, stirring $hit up lol. Wind people up, send them off in confusion and rage.
(just like Q on FR)
I think the ideal results for the Russians would have been Hillary winning a tight election or even only in the Electoral College but not the popular vote. She had already shown she would do anything for a ruble. If they supported Trump it was only to make the election closer.
yet another delicious sample of left on left aggression.
They supported Trump, Sanders, and Stein. They were going with the anti-establishment candidates. They fully expected Clinton to win, they wanted to stir up resentment and opposition wherever possible. Had they thought Trump was going to win, they would have supported Clinton.
After the election they supported anti-Trump rallies. They also support Black Lives Matters and white supremacists. They are not trying to present a coherent ideological message, they just want to stir up trouble.
You’re right by the trolls blasting him on his tweet. The loons are so convinced that Hillary got ripped off that they will not take anything but “Trump Colluded with Russia” as the answer.
You can’t tell the commie libs and their “media” toads anything. They only believe what they want to believe. Facts and the truth are things they don’t know how to deal with. Their Marxist college “perfessers” have them convinced that they are the “smartest” people who have ever inhabited this planet. After all, they have “smart” phones, drive “smart” cars and watch “smart TVs”. They’ve got to be smart.
The microscopic support for Trump was part of the “insurance plan”..... If it were real, it would have been much larger and before the election.
Details, details. Of no importance to our narative.
They spent $1,250.00 per month - a miniscule buy - but created the “#NotMyPresident” meme getting the likes of Michael Moore involved for “bird-dogging” post election.
Facebook Executive Rob Goldman Apologizes After Russia Tweets
there are still three hypotheses about the intertwined goals held by the purveyors of Russian propaganda. The first one, to which Goldman pointed, is that the intention was merely to sow division. ... The second, believed by others inside of Facebook to have been most influential, is that the goal was really to weaken Hillary. ... The third is that the attacks were very specifically aimed at electing Trump.Goldman's ultimate sin was to pick just one of those narratives, the one that minimized Facebook's role in the election of Trump. In doing so, he violated one of the most important principles for people studying the Mueller investigation: No one knows exactly where it's going, or what he's got.
Misses the point that regardless of the goals or motivations, the effect the Russian troll farm had on the election was zip, nada, zero, zilch, nothing.
