You've seen the news reports. Sadly, so many on the right share them with glee.
Yes, there are many people leaving blue states because of the high taxes, failing schools, tolerance (if not enabling) of illegal aliens, high crime, etc. The problem is too many believe liberals are not only fleeing for the same reasons, but have finally seen the errors of their ways and are now going to participate in Republican politics and vote accordingly.
Big WRONG.

“I couldnt afford to be choosy about the buyers political persuasion.”
Therefore, economics will ultimately resolve the question.
If wealthy liberals from Blue States move to Red States, the Red State property owners will be more than happy to sell their property to those Blue State Liberals.
I find the comments on this thread interesting, but in a somewhat disturbing way.
Are conservative inhabitants of red states such as NC, Texas, and Virginia so politically ineffective or unengaged that they cannot resist the will of a number of people moving there from blue states?
Reading this thread, that is what one would think.
Don’t people in red states have the opportunity to put up candidates who can beat people from blue state who come in and run for office?
I just read an article recently about North Carolina demographics, and they did say that the largest majority of growth in the NC population is from migration from other states, it did say that Virginia was the state that had the most migrants leaving to become residents of NC (which makes sense due to simple proximity).
I do see Virginians (where I was born) who say the state is being polluted by its proximity to Washington DC, and I can understand that as it has become progressively bluer over the years, and I think there is validity to that.
I see liberalism as a cancer that isn’t going to be stopped by a dotted line on a map, but has to be combated everywhere it arises...I just don’t see how a red state is going to stop that cancer (from both within and without a state government, as people like Cynthia McKinney coming from a red state like Georgia confirms...and as people from both Texas and Virginia can attest, they have their own moonbats as well, many of whom were born and grown up there)
When ‘liberals’ escape the hellholes they’ve created - they bring their culture with them - the same culture that created the hellholes.
Since they’re Americans we can’t keep them out but there should be ways to tax new people moving into our statess...
I’m Mad As He’ll and
I Can’t take California Anymore!
One way MIGHT be to restrict voting in you new location for something like 5 years.
Obviously there isn’t any good solution to the problem at the moment. The best I can think of is require a year residency period prior to voting to give a chance for the local culture to be absorbed. There is no constitutional right to vote.
“Therefore, economics will ultimately resolve the question.”
Probably.
.
“And one other thing I believe (though I’m not sure) that you can’t discriminate sales on the basis of race etc. “
Fair Housing Laws do not prohibit discriminating against a person due to political persuasion.
“One way MIGHT be to restrict voting in you new location for something like 5 years.”
So you want the Government to fix it?
The more I think about a year is too short maybe a 5 year residency prior to voting.
“The more I think about a year is too short maybe a 5 year residency prior to voting.”
Are you planning on collecting taxes from these new resident who you want the government to prohibit from voting?
I do not know that situation in other states, but in the early 90’s in my home area, this ended up in a court case.
The judge ruled that the homeowner, could not say “I will not sell to anyone from X”. It led to many a fine acreage being bulldozed in rather than have it it go through the risk of having a “city” guy buy the house and then sue the farmer for being to loud.
FSBO has made it easier, but when my parents sold the homestead a major concern was that someone from Omaha would buy it.
Your idea won’t work without coercion. Try telling the people in an area that they can’t sell to someone of a particular political persuasion. that’s a total joke. IF you read my response I proposed a 5 year residency requirement prior to voting, so yes I guess that would be a government solution.
The five-year rule prior to voting in a given state is a good idea. I believe Ohio has a six-month rule, or used to, anyhow.
“I guess that would be a government solution.”
Are there any other personal financial problems you need the government to solve for you?
ABSOLUTELY! taxes aren’t just paid so you can vote. Otherwise there wouldn’t be any tax on motel/hotel stays, car rentals, etc. Let ‘em vote in their old jurisdiction if that’s important.
Why not let the market decide?
Oh how clever of you. Since you decided to be a smart dumb ass you can click on this for an appropriate response
The market has decided.
It’s like the democrats that voted for Trump then voted for their rat congressman or senator in the mid-terms and special elections.
Have a great weekend
