I think the word you are looking for is "deference", not defense.
The word i uased was defense. They defend illegals against this mean old combat vet

I am obviously far away from you in this country but I spent time on this warm 75 degree winter Sunday at an upscale outside mall, and many of the people there also were from the Middle East. Some were Christians and some were Jews and some were Muslims, but again just a huge percentage, maybe not quite 50, But Around 40%.
There is an expression that if you have two of something, you donate your smaller one to someone in need. You don’t deplete yourself or you will be no good to anyone. We want to help others. But there has to be a reasonable limit on our side, and some expectation of gratitude and hard work on the other. You know. Like how our ancestors came here.
