I will put a DVD, an old movie or TV show just for the noise and distraction. So I understand your wife.

The quality of TV programming has dropped considerably over the last 10-15 years. We now buy DVD’s of shows like Castle or watch them on you tube or Hulu. May try Netflex
or Amazon.

We pulled the plug on cable about two years ago. It cost too much to watch channels I used to like to turn their formats into crud. I don’t miss it. My wife does, and we now have an indoor antenna and get only local channels without having to pay for it. I did miss the local weather. Besides the news and weather and Jeopardy, I don’t really care about watching anything else on broadcast TV. I do enjoy DVDs of old shows from the 50’s and 6O’s and old movies mainly from the 30’s to the 60’s.

I was a traveling salesman and manager for many years, my wife's TV addiction might be rooted in that. She needed the noise maker in the room, when the kids were not home.

But I must make it clear, she is not fooled by the nonsense on TV. We agree on most every aspect of the poor quality of programming.

I'm glad you understood her perspective. My reaction? It is like chalk squeaking on a chalk board.
