Yes, plunder.

How else would you characterize the Mexican-American war that saw most of the west taken from Mexico and becoming part of the US?

Have you forgotten: "Remember the Alamo"?

I grew up in Texas. Here’s what you’re missing.

The Texas war of independence ended on April 21, 1836, but Mexico refused to recognize the independence of the Republic of Texas, and intermittent conflicts between the two states continued into the 1840s. The United States recognized the Republic of Texas in March 1837 but declined to annex the territory.[2]

So the US did not plunder Texas from Mexico. Texas was a republic when annexed in 1845.
