I think Kankles probably verbally abused Donna all the time. The braindead buffalo insult was just one of many insults and humiliations Donna had to put up with.

Kankles has always been verbally abusive to those she sees as underlings/servants: the SS, Marine guard, Campaign and DNC staff, Arkansas state troopers, etc.
