The issue with Glocks is cocked and UN-locked... no external safety. Iit’s like a 1911with the safety off. I prefer DA/SA Sigs. P226, P229...

The Beretta model 92 in all it’s versions is extraordinarily reliable.

The only problem is it’s grip is too large for smaller hands.

Most folks are not in Iraq. Sand in the slide is not an issue in most cases.
High capacity
Easy strip/clean
Accurate
Dependable

You are absolutely correct in a close hand to hand scenario, provided someone is familiar with the 92A1, they could remove the slide as you described. A little difficult to do during a struggle however.

Counting on the opponents ignorance of the 92A1 and never ever ever allow them to close the distance between you and them.

I'm sold on the 92’s because of their amazing accuracy at various distances. Love the capacity 17+1.

A lil bulky..I admit. Never had a jam, never had a stove pipe or any mechanical malfunction. Not for everyone I reckon.

My main problem overall with Beretta handguns is that they are just too bulky. They are for people with large hands.

I have to take the Sig as number one choice on a handgun. Ruger P series especially the P89 which we own as well as a P85 and Springfield Armory over Glock all day long.

If we all liked the same gun there would be nothing to argue about on FR. :-)

Lol...you're certainly right. I initially found the grip bulky, but I would not use this as concealed carry. Never handled/shot a Sig. I have a Ruger. The Ruger I purchased was a .45 ACP and that sucker was about as finiky as could be. Jammin son of a biscuit eater.

Traded it off for a Colt Trooper II .357. Awesome wheel gun.

Same here the Ruger P series is very reliable and accurate. We have not had any issues with the P85 or the P89 except for the safety recall on the P85. We shipped it to the factory in a container they provided. Ruger refurbished the whole weapon, put in a new firing pin and safety and shipped it back with an extra magazine.

I like the 35 round mags you can get for them. Sticks out a bit but sure saves time in a Bad Situation 😬

“Beretta 92A1? Maybe not. If it was such an incredible weapon the military wouldn’t be getting rid of it for the Sig 320 “

Lets see how your statement works with other weapons. Times do change. Good weapons (or not) get switched out for other weapons by the US military.

*******************************
Colt 1911A1? Maybe not. If it was such an incredible weapon the military wouldn’t be getting rid of it for the Beretta M9.

M-14? Maybe not. If it was such an incredible weapon the military wouldn’t be getting rid of it for the M-16.

M-1 Garand? Maybe not. If it was such an incredible weapon the military wouldn’t be getting rid of it for the M-14.
