Yes, that’s long been the pattern. The more the pendulum swings in one direction, the harder it swings back.

Also, since the end of WWII, the presidency has swapped parties every 8 years with only two exceptions. Carter was so miserable no one could imagine reelecting him, and Reagan was so popular that G.H.W. Bush eked out one term when typically a Dem would have won.

The Dems controlled congress for 40 years straight until 1994. Since then it’s been a mixed bag.

Looking at the last 72 years since WWII we see a slightly rising Republican party while the Democrats have sunk. Lately they have sunk badly. But they can turn it around for one reason:

The citizens are still upset with government in general. It’s the party in power that gets the blame, and that’s the Republicans for now.

Blame the party in power now for what? What have the Republicans done to be blamed for? The economy is on fire, new claims for unemployment is at a 43-year low, consumer confidence is at a 17-year high, people’s confidence in their finances is it a 14-year high.

So tell us all exactly what the Republicans are going to be blamed for?
