I am starting to suspect that the authorities know a lot more than we credit them with and that they have been lulling his possible confederates into not leaving the US or other countries on the false belief that they are not under suspicion. Otherwise, I find it extremely hard to understand this slob’s MOTIVE. First degree murder generally requires a showing of malice aforethought - planning, not acting under duress or emotion, intending to commit the act - all evident with this swine. Clearly he planned this, but WHY? Just to kill masses of people he didn’t know? He didn’t like country music? Hardly.
The dumbest reason to kill someone is to see if you can get away with it. And that is a motive. There is always a motive.

1. Copycat effect. He has seen all the attention mass murderers get, was feeling suicidal, and planned to break all the records. Well documented. Lots of examples. Adam Lanza a good one.
2. Islamic convert. Spent a lot of time overseas, like Asian women. Did he have an Islamic family in the Philippines? Lots of “lone wolf” jihadis. Orlando shooter a good example.
3. Hated Donald Trump with a passion, and was willing to end it all with a way to kill Trump supporters and cause the Donald a huge problem with his support for the Second Amendment. Republican Baseball shooter an example.
