That isn't a given. There will be a economic recovery at some point, but the idea that it will benefit the people who were harmed is not tested. Wasteful .gov spending, cutback in consumer spending, loss of tax revenue, mass unemployment, business disruption, etc.

If natural disasters were great for the economies of our states we would be hoping more of them occur.
