Here what I have so far that shows evidence that the Charlottesville thing was an AntiFa and Co. attack ON the car driver rather than an attack by the car driver.

A comment on GatewayPundit may have summed it up very well. “The mayor and governor. Go straight to the top. Civil Rights were banned by someone at the top! Antifa showed up & the cops did not stand between them & those that had a permit. Antifa chased the non violent protestors out. Keep calm & pay attention folks. This was a set up.”

You can very clearly see leftists attacking the car with bats or pipes BEFORE the ramming.
