Today, we have liberal groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center designating any group THEY choose as a "hate group" and once issued, the media, politicians, and others repeat that designation as if it has genuine validity.
Exactly who is the arbiter of hate designations in the United States? Did the SPLC have to somehow qualify as to how to spot "hate" and assure their designations are 100% accurate and that partisanship is not used to politically smear one while looking the other way on a like-minded other?

It’s a clown organization and a tentacle of the liberal media. Any time somebody emerges on the political landscape who is pro American Christian Conservative values the SLPC will write up a hit piece on them and the media will immediately source the SLPC (and refer to them as some independent watchdog) to try and ruin that person.

This has been done in the past. Following the bombing of the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City, a number of right-wing "patriots" got third-degree interrogations based only on their association with "militia" organizations as broadly defined by the Southern Poverty Law Center. I suspect a few FReepers also got swept up in the hysteria of '95.
The "facts" about "hate groups" as defined by the SPLC got wide distribution within law enforcement and were accepted without question from what I understand.
In today's environment, with their advanced methods of surveillance, a person targeted as a "hater" could potentially be tracked just about everywhere, as if he were a terrorist. (But if you've done nothing wrong, you've got nothing to fear, right?) An unpleasant confrontation with a cop in an interrogation room would only be the start. Once word got out, a person could lose a career, good credit, friends, even his marriage. There are no laws to protect a person from an unwarranted inquisition, and it would be an expensive proposition to fight it in court.
The SPLC is entitled to their left-wing opinion as much as we are entitled to ours. The organization should not, under any circumstances, be taken as an authority. We need to make certain our local lawmen refuse to follow any orders based on reports issued by the SPLC.
Splc is a hate group as founder of the counter weight to the Southern PLC, the Urban Poverty Law Center is dedicated to the love of all mankind including women and animals, in a platonic sense only.

Any time I see this group referenced in an article or broadcast report, I automatically know it is a lie.

The SPLC is often referenced as a legitimate organization by the mainstream media. They are a sleazy liberal propagandists who are also self serving lawyers.
The Southern Poverty Law Center has been based on hate since the day it was started! Most often it is a group of people that hate something or someone that call the others a hate group. Best way to hide your own hatreds!
