There will be ice skating in Hell before I use Chrome.
I did it as a troubleshooting technique to rule out the browser as the root cause...if it happens across multiple browsers, that kind of does that...:)
I use Chrome at work, because there are certain applications that don’t work well with IE.
I know how you feel about Chrome. I feel that way about Google in general, but at work, I don’t have any choice now. Damnit.
It is kind of what I am doing all the time in my job. I have to troubleshoot issues just like this. Funny, I am not really well versed in desktop OSes, I don’t really know servers well...but I find myself having to run these things down.
Sigh. I guess I lean a lot on the troubleshooting techniques the Navy taught me as a jet mechanic decades ago...I wish I knew more specific things about this stuff, but as I get closer to retirement age, my brain just seems to get too full to learn new things in depth.
I think Jim Robinson should consider going to BlueHost or HostGator, services that can handle large volume requests. I believe both services can support the type of interface Free Republic uses.
Thanks for your informed input, RL.
At the risk of being banned — thanks for your expertise and observations, RL. Something technical is obviously substandard here at our beloved FR. Collectively (I hate using that word!), we spend a fair amount of money to support this site, but the end product is clearly not delivering the operating results that folks expect to experience on-line in the year 2017. Mind you, I’m not whining — just looking towards a better FR in the future.
