USMNT Gold Cup match-up vs. Panama brings deja vu over "a dangerous team"

Hello darkness, our old friend. The beginning of the Gold Cup for the US sees them facing Panama again.

And in looking ahead to the match-up, which kicks off the Yanks’ campaign on Saturday at Nissan Stadium (4:30 pm ET | FOX and Univision), nobody’s coming in hot or headstrong.

“Panama’s extremely a tough opponent, especially right out of the gate,” said defender Matt Besler, of Sporting Kansas City, on Thursday afternoon, after the US’ last training session at Nashville’s Lipscomb University. “We seem to have played them a lot in recent years, and every single game’s been different, and they’ve all been very tough, physical battles.”

For some at US camp, a tough opponent to start is a little like ripping off a bandage, with a positive result steamrolling into some momentum in a tournament that could be winnable. But, yes, even a draw will definitely require laser focus.

“They’re a very familiar opponent… It feels like we see them every couple months,” said defender Graham Zusi, also of Sporting Kansas City. “They’re a dangerous team. They play the counter pretty well, and their set pieces are very dangerous as well. This is a game we’re gonna have to be locked in for a full 90 minutes.”

Today - Last Group games:
Jamaica vs. El Salvador
The final day of Gold Cup Group C kicks off with a battle between two sides hunting a spot in the knockout stages – and ideally a hospitable spot in that bracket – under the roof in the River City. Both Jamaica and El Salvador are coming off positive results in their second games,

Mexico vs. Curacao

Prediction

Mexico dominates early and builds momentum entering the quarterfinals. Mexico 5, Curacao 0.

THE ONE Grand Show

Friedrichstadt-Palast: THE ONE Grand Show Trailer ENG

This was a really enjoyable show. There were a few "Village People" costumes but all the romantic pairs were male-female. The production is about a dream/fantasy and the music was great, the songs wholesome, the costumes amazing, the dancing superb with many different varieties. Heck, this was as much an acrobatics/gymnastic show as anything else. When you are in Berlin (you will be in Berlin) - you really must see it.

On the train going home my wife kept asking me where we seen the main actor before. I finally said I have no idea, you are the one watching TV not me. Then she looked him up:

Roman Lob

Roman Lob - Standing Still - Eurovision Song Contest 2012 Germany

He was really good in THE ONE Grand Show.

The had an announcement in both German and English before the show saying that taking pictures and videos was not allowed. We were sitting there with cameras in our hands (even my 7 year-old daughter).

I told my family put the cameras away. My wife protested saing we have press rights (she got free tickets because she is a journalist). I said Off and away.

Was actually nice being freed up to totally enjoy the show and without camera illuminations being held up all around.

They gave us a free show program/book that has very nice pictures.

Was just informed we are going to a 719 year anniversary of Berlin's oldest harbor, with free museum entrance on the history of Berlin.

...otherwise I would have more things to bore you with.

They also have an historical boat, children can paint water pictures, etc.

The community center, with the wall paintings and where my daughter got a free face-paint, had a children's event where kids did different activities like knock-over cans with a beanbag, pin the tail on the parrot, build a small raft with sticks, etc.

When they finished all that, the children reported to the Pirate Captain and got a certificate with their name on it saying they passed the pirate test. With the certificate they got a free ride on the steamship (pictured in the post above - don't think it is real steam btw). We considered the boat ride but then decided to instead move on to The Museum of Berlin History which was having a special free entrance day - only one block away...

Museum post 2/2
I recently asked my daughter what she wants to be when grown up. She wants to be a model. So that is what she is doing in the pictures, practicing her modeling.

I highly recommend seeing this museum (Berlin History). Was very interesting, though I think we only saw about 3/4 because the pathways are confusing and I wanted to get home in time to watch soccer.

Soccer... speaking of which Germany Women play Sweden Women today. :)

When you visit the Museum of Berlin History don't touch anything. We got a talking to about that. Then the guy stalked my daughter to catch her alone. I asked her what was said. He told her some of the stuff has laser alarms that can be triggered by getting too close.

Later, I turned a corner and saw my daughter with a cloth in her hand about to wipe a blackboard. I said No Don't Touch! But then a lady stepped towards me and said this was OK (was a school room exhibit). I was like - whew!

She wrote her name and school grade with chalk.

I’d like to see USA v Panama in the Semi-Final.

That’s right.

Finally settle this 1-1 nonsense.

LoL!
