The fourth season of Dr. Blake aired on British TV earlier this year. There's a fifth season of Dr. Blake coming later this year, with a full-length movie as a finale to the series. I'm not sure when any of it will show up on Netflix. I just started watching "Deep Water" which is an Australian crime series. Craig McLachlan plays a character in it sans beard. It's live streaming on Netflix.
Have you ever watched "Foyle's War?" Netflix offers all eight seasons of the show on DVD. It's a British detective show that takes place during WWII. The end of the series takes place after the war has ended. "Shetland" is also another great detective series. Netflix has the first three seasons streaming. Douglas Henshall plays the Chief detective. I'd recommend "Vera" but I noticed Netflix doesn't have it. The main character Detective Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope is played by Brenda Blethyn. There's been four seasons so far, and has been renewed for a fifth. "Hinterland" is a Welsh detective series. Netflix has two seasons live streaming, and a third season aired in Britain last October.

The leading character is somehow reminiscent of Gary CooperNot Robert Taylor?

It sounds like Netflix has the best shows on television. I've seen it advertised, but haven't looked into it. Will have to check. We get over 100 channels on U-verse, but only a handful are worth watching.

I have cable, but like Netflix because I can also get DVDs from them along with live streaming. It’s costs me less than $19 a month. I’m signed up for one disk at a time, which is fine for me since I have so much other stuff to watch. When I finish the shows I’ve recorded on my DVR, I’ll switch to Netflix, or watch some of the British programs I’ve downloaded from UK websites. Britain consistently produces excellent historical documentaries, and mystery shows.

Loved it--until they started using God's name in vain.
Won't tolerate that, and I miss a lot of shows and movies.

Thanks for the ping. Hope this will be on DVD, don’t have Netflix and missed after A&E dropped it.

We stopped watching half way through season 5 the episode were Walt showed up at the Red Pony and started a fight with Henry. I turn so dark and Walts charecter so far out of control we just didn’t enjoy it any more. Lost all the best things from the books. The Walt Longmire of the novels was a realy cowboy who lived by the code not the man that show turned him into.

I watched the first nine episodes this weekend. Still have the final episode to watch but I hate to do it. I hate to see it end...

Thanks. I cannot wait! I will start tonight!
Have really enjoyed the series.
I guess I am not going to be able to see the next season of house of cards.

I have loved this series. Watched season 5 last week. An old-fashioned (more or less) hero. My only complaint is that every once in a while (as with the mother who killed her daughter’s husband) the “mystery” is a self contained episode that doesn’t really move the larger story arcs along. But still, Taylor plays that part perfectly, though even now I find Katee Sackoff (who used to be called here on FR “Manhands”) very difficult to look at.

I think you are correct but I found the textured complicated stories compelling.
So tired of series where I can see the ending in my head after ten minutes.

I’ve seen all the episodes until this season. We’re up to episode four which featured a very strong pro-life undercurrent.

I agree. My 18 year old is farther along than we are this season. I also saw what you did channeling Henry Standing Bear speaking style.

When I watched the ending scenes of Season 1, Episode 1 years ago, I thought it was so much like some of the endings of “The Closer”. Then I saw the credits. Both Closer and Longmire were by Hunt Baldwin and John Coveny.
The attorney characters in both shows, and the legal situations, were similarly interesting, too.
