May 68 Tet-II firefight 3 miles from Saigon stopping NVA attempt at taking Saigon from the south and it took from just after noon to dark, about 8 hours to get to a dustoff. Had a leg shot out from under also along with sucking air with only one lung. Fire was too intense and close for dust off and had to wait for armor to sneak in after dark to take kia/wia to dustoffs a mile away. 93rd evac north of Saigon was just minutes away, just no way to get there.
