I don’t agree that the comments are on par. Woods was
referencing an accurate aspect of the gay lifestyle and
applying it to a professed gay man. Colbert was insulting
a straight man. Both comments were intended as insults.
However, calling a straight man gay has to be more
insulting than attributing common gay behavior to a proud gay
man.

It really seems very odd to me that males would admire males who crave anal cavities and pretend that they are women. It is a denial of truth (God) and a very irrational, filthy use of one’s own body and that of others. To “think” of the worldview that these “males” while looking at young males is really very ugly and degrading and dehumanizing.
Even the ancient Greeks looked down on adult males using each other like women and that is why they always paired up with boys. The Afghanis prefer the boys but they use adult males and animals just the same.
The Greeks even “banned” homosexuality after the males turned 18 until they would marry and father children.
James Woods remark was not ‘homophobic” —a nonsensical Marxist word—created like the word “homosexual” by the Germans to make sodomy and pederasty “normal” again. James Woods remark is very appropriate and probably truthful. It was much tamer than Colbert remark who should have been fired immediately.
I’m betting he is a freeper as well. He has the same kind of humor we all have in this place. I applaud James woods’ efforts!

In both cases I was thinking more about the rest of us than the targets of the insults - it’s more than a little pathetic that school-yard insults referring to sex practices are now considered acceptable in public discourse.
