And, FWIW, I agree with you. The entities that would benefit from this are mostly Sunni, who want to play “Let’s you and him fight” between the US and Russia. Turks and Saudis come to mind first. The Turks have means, motive, and probably opportunity.

The Israelis? Not really their style, and frankly, I think they’d rather have an uneasy peace with Assad than an ISIS-oriented entity in control of Syria.

As for the Syrian groups vying for dominion over the others... if they had the means to use special weapons to wipe out their opponents they would. Every last one of them, including the one’s we are supporting. That alone is reason to get out.
