Just what I was going to say. It baffles me why he wasn’t canned the second he took office.
I hate to tell you this: John Koskinen is still the Commissioner of the IRS. Despite being nearly impeached for lying to congress and allowing a section of the IRS (headed by the infamous Lois Lerner) to target conservative taxpayers, Trump has allowed this sleaze bag to remain in office. So don’t expect him to fire Comey any time soon.
If you know he’s “smarter than this” why do you constantly rail about Trump not firing Comey? Either you think Trump is too stupid to fire someone (which is his claim to fame afte rall) or maybe he’s smarter than you know. Maybe he and his team are privvy to information (including classified info) that the general public is not. Maybe AG Sessions who is Comey’s boss is not an idiot either, but has other reasons for doing what he is doing.
It seems to me more prudent to allow those who are closest to the situation and who have the best knowledge and expertise do things their way. If you don’t think Trump and Sessions are idiots, then consider that there may be investigations and other matters in-process that will ultimately pay big dividends.
This congressoinal hearing is a show where Shiff and his pals will grandstand for the cameras and Republicans like Gowdy will make some soundbite statements but not actually do anything just like they haven’t done anything all these years.

There is some BIG reason why Trump hasn’t dumped Comey long ago. As you say, Trump is smarter than that. Does anyone have a clue or even a wild guess why Comey is still there?
