were any other students recording the class?
recording classes is SOP for college notes.
or is this class too “basket weaving” to warrant note taking?

I know the rule for recording police is “public employees in the performance of their duties have no expectation of privacy.” Since this is a public school (and since it obviously didn’t disrupt the class, since the prof didn’t learn about it until it was released), why isn’t the rule the same. Taxpayers help pay the salary; they have a right to know what is going on.

Yes he did. And he'd probably lose any lawsuit he might file because it also probably violated state law. Then again Daniel Ellsberg and George Washington also broke the rules. The lesson the right must learn is that the courts are only one tool in the toolbox. There are all sorts of ways to fight back. Find another student who did the same thing on the other side of the spectrum without repercussion, challenge the code of conduct, find examples of the prof violating the rules, etc.

He broke the rules. Period.ONeil videotaped the rant over concerns that his grade might be lowered for the class because of his outward show of support for Trump. He intended to use the video to present to the administration as evidence of his concerns.
Watch the video. Some other students in the class have stepped up to support the student in question and saying the teacher's half hour rant went too far.

Which would be fine if he were a liberal.
