From what I gather, it was Barack Obama’s seat to fill, since Antonin Scalia died in February of 2016, and thus the GOP majority in the Senate “stole” it from Obama by not giving Merrick Garland a hearing or confirmation vote.
I guess I can buy that answer....no choice anyway! Boy! If our luck holds out, we’ll see all these cry babies melt into one big puddle flooding the Capitol building!!! We should be so lucky!
