A lot of people mistake Virginia Creeper for Poison Oak. Poison Ivy is unmistakable, it’s those tremendous, hairy looking vines winding up tree trunks.
As far as snakes, keep your property clear of undergrowth as well as hiding places. Don’t give cover for small vermin upon which they feed, mice primarily, and you’ll see very few with one exception: very heavy rain verging upon flooding. That brings them out in droves, they’re moving away from flood areas. Old timers seem to think they and turtles have a sense and will move before flooding, so watch out if you see them on the move, in the roadway en masse. Flood’s a-comin’.
I have an on-site ‘snake alarm’...my wife sees one, the whole county will know it.
