Monday in Miami after attending a Martin Luther King Day event, while commenting on the controversy over Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) saying of President-elect Donald Trump he didn’t “see the president-elect as a legitimate president” and Trump’s tweeted response, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) said he “hoped” the Trump would have responded differently “given everything that John Lewis means to our country.”

John Lewis meant shit to me after he said the President I and America voted for was illegitimate.

Lewis means squat to me. He is a hateful racist, a liar, and an entitled agitator.
Rubio was never Tea Party. He’s always been Establishment, except for that primary.
We need a straight up trade: Rubio for Manchin

If Lewis wants to be a lefty machine man, then he shouldn’t be surprised to get Trump’s rebuke for doing this.

Lewis, whatever he might or might not have done to the good in the distant past, has turned into a has-been, a tool.
Doing something good once (let’s take the most optimistic view) does not equate to a blank check for effing up years later.

Apparently, Lewis is trying to ride on ancient history. America has been almost killed through iconization. We don’t even support Trump based on his ancient history, but based on where he is going NOW.
Lewis means NOTHING to this country....he was certainly a civil rights leader, and was severely injured in his efforts....
But, and he can’t seem to acknowledge that it was DEMOCRATS who were beating him up.....the march to Selma was in ALABAMA where George Wallace was the governor, the one who stood in the doorway of the university of Alabama and wouldn’t let blacks enter (until he discovered that they could play football)....anyway, after the tumult and beatings....HE JOINED THEM........HE BECAME A DEMOCRAT....HOW STUPID CAN THAT BE???????
Little Marco should concentrate on getting a better comb over.John Lewis means about what John McInsane means to me - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Ay cache they have is based on what happened to them a long time ago rather than what they’ve accomplished in the last 50 years.
There is a Biblical Principle that a sinner repents, they are forgiven, even if they did very bad things in their past. This is the Good News.
The bad news is the inverse: If someone did something good in their past, but has gone on to live a life of evil deeds, the old past good deed does not exonerate him.

I hoped that Lewis would have initiated the conversation differently, given how much a legitimately elected Donald Trump means to our country.
I hoped that Rubio would STFU.
Shoulda come down harder on Lewis, I agree. Course he didn’t mean that..
