Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul is warning Republicans not to repeal Obamacare without voting in a replacement for the health care law on the same day.
I think it's imperative that Republicans do a replacement simultaneous to repeal, Paul said Wednesday on MSNBCs Morning Joe, cautioning that disaster in the form of insurance company bankruptcies and a massive bailout could follow a move to repeal the law without a new one in its place. If they don't, Obamacare continues to unravel.

Remove the mandate first and watch it die slowly.
Open up competition.
Ditto Bump
The free market is the replacement. I thought Paul was a libertarian.
Nope, totally bought and owned crony step'n'fetchit.
Where is the power to control healthcare insurance delegated to the federal government in the constitution?
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
With the exception of Major Medical Emergencies, why does ANYBODY need Health Insurance in the first place? WE DON’T
I walk in to my Doctors office with a fistful of cash or my checkbook, you would be AMAZED at how reasonable Health Care really is, when YOU START PAYING THE BILL and Negotiate for YOURSELF!
I knew somebody would bring up that outdated list of Suggestions found in the US Constitution of suggestions. /s
Rand Paul needs to get his royal rear out among the American people and get a dose of reality coupled with the rage aimed at DC. He’s delusional if he thinks the American people want to wait and pay the outrageous premiums for garbage healthcare with third-world physicians treating them.
"Replacement" is a Democrat trap. It is designed to keep the foundations of Obamacare in place, while giving Republicans an out that they "repealed" the law.
Then, Dims are going to run against "Trumpcare", Republicans will get blamed for Obamacare, and the clarion call will go out for universal, gov't controlled healthcare.
Here's what the Republicans need to do:
(1) Completely repeal Obamacare, every last rotten sentence of it.
(2) Those who lost their insurance plans thanks to Obamacare, or who lost their plans when on Obamacare, should be eligible to enroll into their state Medicaid or health-care program, funded by a one-time block grant.
Wait a year, let the market catch up again.
THEN you tackle health-care reform in 2018. Let insurers compete across state lines. Turn Medicaid and Medicare completely over the states. Give veterans vouchers so they can attend any hospital of their choice. Make HSAs, monthly insurance premiums, and deductibles completely tax-free up to $5,000.00 annually. Create another tax-credit for charitable contributions to charities for those who can't afford healthcare.
> insurance company bankruptcies and a massive bailout
What a load.
The govt does not bail out bankrupt companies. Prior bad acts notwithstanding.
I through a series of poor financial moves and ageing, have now fallen into the clutches of the government O-care mandate. It costs nothing to me, as a matter of fact I was enrolled without doing a thing.
I cannot use my old doctors clinic. When I went there for a checkup on a ear infection, they looked into my SS# and told me that they cannot accept my insurance. I told them I had no insurance, and offered them cash. They gave me a stern look, and told me that what I proposing to do was “fraud”.
I know a lot of people that are on the O-care and it is like being in the VA health system. You wait weeks, or go to the ER or a free clinic for emergencies. This is what the system was supposed to fix, the numbers of people going to the E room.
The cost? lets talk about the $7,500 deductible for the nO-care. Before this came to be, I paid $325 a month for that kind of deductible, but when I showed up anywhere the clinics/hospitals/doctors snapped to. When the insurance I had been paying for years, went to $800 plus in the days when O-care were formed, I quit paying insurance. It just was not worth it as I had never met my deductible.
In short, the only thing that has changed is the poor people now can carry a card, but they are still treated like third class citizens. Maybe worse, because even if they put aside money to pay cash, it is not allowed.
DUMP nO-care into the deepest part of the sea and let it never see the light of day again.
The people who pushed this earned pain.
Let them be paid in full.

True.
Nah.
He is his father’s “hate America” first creation.
We don’t need replacement healthcare.
The human race survived just fine without the government providing healthcare for everyone.
It’s not owed to anyone.
It BETTER be the same day!!!
I completely agree Jim. Can we explain this fact to the President Elect??
Obamacare may not need to be repealed. At least not yet.
First create Obamacare’s replacement and pass it.
Meanwhile, stop funding Obamacare, and stop all enrollments. Find a way to “seamlessly” transfer all current members to the new program.
Let Obamacare die a slow death, and repeal it when all members have been transferred.
You are correct, and the SAME DAY plan does not let the executive branch (The Donald) time to evaluate and provide inputs.
We did fine for 200+ years without it ...
with lower premiums.
